Experience Living History at Koh-Koh-Mah

The Koh-Koh-Mah & David Foster Living History Encampment will be held in Wildcat Valley this weekend, September 18-19, 2010.  Food, live music, vendors, a variety of demonstrations, strolling fiddler, style show, children’s parade, and a French & Indian battle re-enactment are among some of the features offered during this annual event.  Visitors will also have the chance to hear Chief Koh-Koh-Mah speak about the battles his ancestors fought and will learn more about the history of the Kokomo area.  A full schedule of events is listed at www.KohKohMah.com

Wildcat Valley is located at 1000 West 100 South in western Howard County, approximately 10 miles west of Kokomo.  Hours are Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. & Sunday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Admission is $5 adults & $4 seniors & students.  Kids ages 5 & under are admitted free.  The event is rain or shine, and there is plenty to see and do for the entire family!  For more information, visit their website.

Kokomo Fall Trip Ideas

Fall is soon approaching.  Kids are now back in school, busy with school projects, club meetings, and athletics.  For many, Summer vacation is over, but that doesn’t have to mean the end of travel.  Consider this Fall as a perfect time to take a weekend getaway, especially to Kokomo.

Old Sycamore Farm
September 20 – October 31
(Hours: M-Th. 12-7pm, Fri. 12-6pm, Sat. 10am-6pm & Sun. 12-6pm)
Bring the family to this locally owned farm, where kids can pick their own special pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, play games, visit the petting zoo, experience candle-dipping, compete in the hay bale maze, pan for gem stones, and much more.  The farm also features a country store, selling locally made food items and crafts.  Visit their website for directions, prices, and photos.  Also, don’t miss their Haunted Barn, opened on Friday & Saturday evenings through Halloween!

Kokomo Oktoberfest
September 25 (4-10 p.m.)
Visitors will enjoy German food, vendors, kid’s activities, fantastic live music by the Jay Fox and Bavarian Showtime Band, beer garden, and polka dancing.  In addition, there will be a large Volkswagen Cruise-in and VW vendors.  Admission is free.  Don’t miss this great family event in Downtown Kokomo!
