Several great events will take place in Kokomo and Howard County next month during National Historic Preservation Month. Here are some of the events you can get involved with and attend.
- Seiberling Mansion Nooks & Crannies Tour – May 1, 2010 (1-4 p.m.)
Get a “behind the scenes” tour of areas not normally open to the public. Admission $4 adults & $1 children. 765-452-4314
- “Sunday at the Seiberling” – May 2, 2010
Get free admission to the Seiberling Mansion from 1-4 p.m.
- Greentown Historic Building Tour – May 8, 2010 (Noon-4 pm)
Tour includes 3 great homes, Meridian Street Christian Church, the Hy-Red Gas Station, State Bank of Greentown & Greentown History Center. Tickets $8 advance or $10 at the door. Tickets available at Greentown Antique Mall & Treasure Mart Antique Mall.
- “How to Paint Wood Siding” Workshop – May 15, 2010 (9 am-Noon)
Cost is $20 and seating is limited. Workshop will be held at the Elliott House in Kokomo. 765-452-4314
- Kokomo Historic Churches Tour – May 22, 2010 (9 am-Noon)
Tour 5 beautiful, historic churches in Kokomo. Cost is only $5 per person. Reservations are required. 765-452-4314
Also in May, don’t miss the 2010 Designers’ Showhome, located at 1105 West Mulberry Street in Kokomo. The Blessing House has been taken over by decorators and interior designers and will be open to the public May 2 – 16, 2010 from Noon – 7 pm daily. Tickets are $10 advance or $12 at the door.
