Your Guide to Fun Holiday Events & Spectacular Light Displays in Kokomo!

Light Up Your Holiday will feature Santa’s arrival on the train in Downtown Kokomo among many other fun activities for kids of all ages!

Visit Kokomo Indiana for great tours and family-friendly events that will make your family’s holiday season merry and bright!  Christmas at the Seiberling is an annual holiday tradition in Kokomo held at the Seiberling Mansion, beautifully decorated both inside and out!  The Opening Night Ceremony will be held November 24, 2012 from 6-9 pm with Santa visits, carriage rides (by reservation), entertainment, and museum tours.  Christmas at the Seiberling tours will continue throughout the season Tuesday-Sunday from 1-4 pm through December 30th (closed December 24-25.)  Don’t miss this chance to experience the Seiberling Mansion in its full holiday splendor!  This is also a great tour idea for groups of all sizes or a women’s holiday outing.  Admission is $4 for adults & $1 for kids.  Visit website or call (765) 452-4314 for information or to schedule a group tour.

If you have kids, make plans now to attend Light Up Your Holiday!  Downtown Kokomo will be bustling with holiday cheer on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 4-7 pm with the arrival of Santa on the train, live reindeer, Christmas stories & crafts, letters to Santa, holiday treats, downtown lights & much more.  Admission is free.  Downtown art galleries and boutiques will also be open for holiday shopping.  Kids of all ages will have a blast at this event!  My son especially enjoyed the live reindeer last year …

Enjoy a drive or stroll through several spectacular light displays in the Kokomo area.  These include We Care Park (Kokomo’s largest holiday light display with over 1,000,000 lights and dozens of animated displays), Highland Park and Pioneer Village at the Howard County Fairgrounds.  Most light displays will be open nightly starting Thanksgiving weekend.
Take a step back in time and enjoy A Country Christmas at Easy Acre Farm. Visit Santa, see his sleigh, and meet live reindeer from 1-4 pm on December 15-16 & 22-23, 2012.  Located at 3347 East 50 North (less than 2 miles east of Kokomo), Easy Acre Farm has several fun family-friendly events throughout the year and boasts their farm attraction as agri-tainment!  This is a great opportunity to visit a local farm and learn about history and old-fashioned values.  Visit their website for more details.

Enjoy theater and music?  Here are a few more ideas to enjoy the holiday season!  Kokomo Civic Theatre will present the heart-warming musical “The Gifts of the Magi” on November 30 – December 2, 2012 at IU Kokomo Havens Auditorium.  Performances will be held Fri. & Sat. 8 pm and Sun. 2 pm.  Visit their website for ticket information.  The  We Care Christmas Concert will be held on November 16, 2012 at IU Kokomo Havens Auditorium at 7 pm.  Concert will feature several local musicians and performers, and admission is $2.  Also, don’t miss the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra Youth Winter Concert.  KSO Youth will perform at Grace United Methodist Church in Kokomo at 7:30 pm on December 14, 2012.

2nd Annual Light Up Your Holiday in Downtown Kokomo

Join us for an old fashioned Christmas in Downtown Kokomo on Saturday, December 4, 2010 for the 2nd Annual Light Up Your Holiday!  Santa Claus will make a grand entrance to the Courthouse Square on the train at 1:00 p.m.  Kids of all ages will enjoy his special arrival! 

A variety of fun activities for the entire family will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Vendors selling holiday gifts and goodies will be available to help you finish your Christmas shopping.  Kids can write and mail a letter to Santa, listen to Christmas stories, or participate in holiday crafts.  Carolers and special holiday entertainment will fill downtown with the sounds of the season, and visitors can browse decorated windows of downtown stores and businesses.  Wagon and carriage rides will also be offered during the event.  Of course, Santa will be ready to hear Christmas wishes from all the kids from his special house located on the Square.

“Light Up Your Holiday” in Kokomo!

Join us in Downtown Kokomo on Saturday, December 5, 2009, for “Light Up Your Holiday.”   The fun-filled evening will kick-off with the arrival of Santa at 5:00 p.m.  From 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., holiday vendors will be set up in the former L Shop  location on Main Street on the Courthouse Square selling candies, hot chocolate, coffee, gifts, handmade items & more.  Christmas trees and wreaths will also be for sale.  Kids will enjoy visiting with Santa (and maybe one of his reindeer!) 

The lighting ceremony on the Courthouse lawn will take place at 8:00 p.m., and carolers will perform throughout the evening to “make the spirits bright!”  Visitors to downtown will also enjoy all the holiday window decorations put up by local businesses.  Admission is free.  Bring the entire family on December 5th to enjoy an old-fashion Christmas on the Square in Downtown Kokomo!

“Christmas at the Seiberling” is Coming!

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and one of Kokomo’s top holiday attractions will soon be open!  The Seiberling Mansion will undergo its annual transformation (inside and out) in preparation for “Christmas at the Seiberling.”  Thousands of Christmas lights will be hung and dozens of Christmas trees, wreaths, and decorations will be magnificently displayed.

The Lighting Ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 28, starting at 6:00 p.m. to kick-off the opening night celebration.  Tours of the beautifully decorated Seiberling Mansion, visits & photos with Santa, special holiday entertainment, cookies and wassail, and carriage rides will be offered from 6:00-9:00 p.m.  In addition, a special gingerbread house exhibit will be on display and you can vote for your favorite handmade creation!  Admission is $4 for adults and $1 for children under age 12. 

“Christmas at the Seiberling” tours will continue through December 30, 2009.  The Seiberling Mansion, located at 1200 West Sycamore Street in Kokomo, is open Tuesday – Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m.  Don’t miss this great holiday tradition!  In addition to its regular hours, the Seiberling Mansion can open during special times for group tours or holiday parties.  For more information, call 765-452-4314 or visit their website.

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

This weekend is the last chance to enjoy the We Care Trim-A-Tree Festival at Kokomo Mall.  Plan to spend some time as there are 80 trees and wreaths on display.  All are in creative themes that businesses, individuals, and clubs have decorated.  They will be auctioned off at Kokomo Mall on November 16 starting at 4:45 p.m.  Plan to come out to see the fantastic display or to purchase a tree for your own home or business.  It is sure to put you in the Christmas spirit!  The event is free, but you can vote for your favorite with spare change.  Upcoming events to support We Care include:

  • We Care Christmas Concert featuring local singers, musicians, and dancers at Oakbrook Community Church on Nov. 21.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and concert starts at 7 p.m.
  • We Care Christmas Tree House at 1501 E. Sycamore Street in Kokomo.  Dozens of Christmas trees are displayed throughout the home, which is open Nov. 29 through Dec. 31.  Hours are Monday-Friday 5-9 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday Noon-9 p.m.
  • We Care Park Christmas Light Display open daily starting on Thanksgiving Day at 6 p.m.
  • 36th Annual We Care Telethon on Dec. 5-7
