Go ahead and indulge during the 14th Annual Chocolate Celebration, an event celebrating all things chocolate!

Double Chocolate Jubilee Cake, Chocolate Mousse Torte, Oreo Cheesecake, Chocolate Cherry Cookies, Chocolate Covered Strawberry Popcorn, Candied Bacon Samoa Cupcakes, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie are just a few of the indulgent items that will featured during this year’s event.  My mouth is watering already!  See a full list of items here.

Indulge in Kokomo’s Chocolate Celebration on Feb. 6th

chocolateWhere can you find raspberry brownie parfaits, double chocolate cookies, banana split cheesecake, chocolate-covered fruit cups, and dark chocolate caramel cupcakes?  At the 13th Annual Chocolate Celebration on Friday, February 6, 2015! This sweet event will be held at Kokomo’s First Church of the Nazarene at 2734 South Washington Street from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

There is no admission to the event with free samples at many of the booths.  Tickets are 2/$5, and each ticket may be redeemed at any of the Chocolate Celebration booths for one chocolate item of your choice.  Arrive early for best selection!

Many booths will also have specialty items for sale – perfect for Valentine’s Day!  New to this year’s celebration, bring your smartphone along and connect on Twitter by live tweeting pictures of your favorite treats using #chocolatecelebration @SCaregivers.

Kokomo’s Chocolate Celebration … A Chocolate Lovers Paradise!

Make your next visit to Kokomo extra sweet by attending the 12th Annual Chocolate Celebration on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.

Sponsored by J. Edwards Fine Chocolates, Gourmet Cakes & Gifts, the event will be held at Kokomo First Church of the Nazarene from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Arrive early for best selection!  Tickets are only 2 for $5 and can be redeemed for one chocolate item of your choice while quantities last.  Chocolate selections vary from year to year and usually include a variety of cakes, brownies, candy, chocolate-dipped fruit, fudge and other delicious and decadent creations.  I have never had a chocolate dessert that I did not enjoy!

Calling all chocolate lovers!  Mark your calendar for Friday, February 1, 2013 as hundreds of chocolate lovers gather to satisfy their sweet cravings at the 11th Annual Chocolate Celebration presented by J. 10th Annual Chocolate Celebration

Don’t miss the 10th Annual Chocolate Celebration in Kokomo on Friday, February 3, 2012.  An event celebrating chocolate? It doesn’t get much better than that!  A delicious variety of chocolate creations will be offered by local restaurants and businesses.  A few of the items available to choose from this year include: chocolate fudge, red velvet cheesecake brownies, chocolate raspberry cream puffs, organic chocolate bars, hot chocolate, chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate custard cookie sandwiches among other great selections.

The event will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, located at the corner of Lincoln Road and Washington Street (west of U.S. 31) from 11am-2pm.  Here’s an insider’s tip: Arrive early for best selection!  Admission is free.  Tickets can be purchased at the door (2 for $5), and each ticket can be redeemed for a chocolate item.  Many booths will be giving out free samples and selling chocolate gifts if you wish to shop for someone special!

2011 Duck Derby at Kokomo Beach

It is time again for Samaritan Caregiver’s Annual Duck Derby!  Plan to bring the entire family on Thursday, July 28, 2011 to Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center from 5-10 p.m. for an evening of fun, games, and food.  

From 5-7 p.m, Duck Derby ticket holders (tickets $5 each) will receive free Papa John’s pizza, Coca Cola products, and enjoy free children’s games.  From 7-10 p.m., Kokomo Beach will be open to Duck Derby ticket holders with a wrist band.  Wrist bands are given out on a first come first serve basis beginning at 5 p.m. with 1,400 maximum capacity in Kokomo Beach.  Non-swimmers may view the races from bleachers outside the fence.

The Papa Duck and Rubber Duck races will be held in the Lazy River from 7-8 p.m.  Papa Duck’s are sponsored by local businesses and compete for a Papa John’s Pizza Party.  The winner of the rubber duck race will receive $500, courtesy of the Kokomo offices of Edward Jones Investments.

One of my all-time favorite annual events in Kokomo is just around the corner, and my sweet tooth is ready!  J. Edwards Fine Chocolates will present the 9th Annual Chocolate Celebration on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Kokomo Mall.  Local restaurants, caterers, bakeries, and chocolate connoisseurs will offer their special (and delicious!) chocolate creations from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  My advice is come early for best selection!

Chocolate lovers will be in paradise with the large variety of sweet desserts available, including brownies, cheesecake, flavored coffee, cookies, hot chocolate, cake, crème brulee, cupcakes, pastries, truffles, chocolate-dipped fruit, fudge, and many other tempting chocolate treats.  I am, of course, a HUGE chocolate fan and look forward to what will be offered at the event each year.  There is definitely something for everyone, including Valentine’s Day gift items you can purchase for your sweetheart or family members if you don’t enjoy chocolate yourself.  Visit their website for a list of items that will be offered this year.

This is one day of the year that I completely enjoy devouring chocolate desserts for lunch.  However, if you wish to eat first, several vendors will offer lunch items, and Grace United Methodist Church will sell soup and sloppy joe sandwiches in the Kokomo Mall.

2010 Duck Derby

The Samaritan Caregiver’s 12th Annual Duck Derby will be held at Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center on Thursday, July 29 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. (rain date is August 6.)  Fun for the entire family, kids will especially enjoy the duck races and family-friendly activities!

Tickets are $5 each.  A ticket allows entry into Kokomo Beach, kid’s games and inflatables, free pizza and beverages compliments of Papa John’s Pizza and Coca-Cola Bottling of Kokomo, Papa Duck decorating contest judging, free swimming from 7-9 p.m., and of course, the main attraction – duck races!  2,500 little rubber ducks will race down the lazy river at 7:30 p.m.  Prizes (ranging from cash and gift cards to fantastic prize baskets) will be awarded to those with corresponding numbers for the top ten finishing ducks.  Come and cheer them on!

Don’t Miss the 2010 Chocolate Celebration!

Chocolate lovers will gather for the 8th Annual Chocolate Celebration at the Kokomo Mall from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010.  My calendar is already marked for this incredibly sweet event!  I have attended six out of the last seven years and have never been disappointed.  The choice and quality of chocolate items is simply fantastic.  You are sure to have a great time!

Local organizations, restaurants, caterers, and bakeries will bring their very best chocolate creations.  Tickets are 2 for $5 and can each be redeemed for a dessert of your choice.  Believe me, it is not an easy decision!  Over the past several years I have tried chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate layer cake, frozen hot chocolate, brownies, and fudge (just to name a few.)  Make sure to arrive early for best selection.

Each booth is beautifully decorated and many offer free samples as well.  It is worth a visit even if you don’t personally enjoy chocolate as many booths have a selection of gourmet candy and gifts you can purchase to give someone special on Valentine’s Day.  Soup and sloppy joe sandwiches will also be available if you want to have lunch before enjoying dessert.

2009 Duck Derby

The 2009 Duck Derby will be held at Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center on Thursday, July 30.  Duck Derby ticket-holders will enjoy free Papa John’s pizza & Coke from 5-7 pm, free swimming from 7-9 pm, and the chance to win one of 10 prizes, including the grand prize of $500!  Duck races will take place between 7-8 pm.  The event will also include games and inflatables for kids for all ages.
