Enjoy a variety of fun, family events this holiday season in Kokomo!  Here are some highlights:

“Scrooge – The Musical” presented by Kokomo Civic Theatre  will be held on November 21-23, 2014 at IU Kokomo Havens Auditorium.  Don’t miss one of the best musical adaptations of Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.”  Visit www.KokomoCivicTheatre.com for ticket information.

Shop local!  Find locally-made gifts and delicious baked goods at the Kokomo Winter Market, located inside the Historic Train Depot on Buckeye Street.  The Winter Market is open 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. every Saturday through December 20, 2014, and a perfect place to find unique holiday gifts!

Make plans to visit Christmas at the Seiberling – a local holiday tradition.  Explore the Seiberling Mansion, adorned with Christmas trees, wreaths, angels, and thousands of lights – elaborately decorated both inside and out (including 20 rooms on all three floors!)  Opening Night Lighting Ceremony will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 starting at 6 p.m.  Enjoy tours, cookies and wassail, visits with Santa, and carriage rides (reservations required for all carriage rides.)

Christmas at the Seiberling tours will continue through December 21, 2014.  Hours:  Tuesday – Sunday 1-4 p.m.  In addition, the Mansion will be open several weekends for special evening tours!  These dates include December 4-5, 11-12, and 18-19.  Thanks to local sponsors, free admission will be given on December 4, 18, and 19.  Check out www.HowardCountyMuseum.org for more details.

Twisted Darkness Haunted House & Twisted Illusions 3D Fun House – open through November 2, 2013
Get ready to scream!  Thrills and chills are waiting at every turn.  Twisted Illusions offers a fun, visual, mind-bending addition to the haunted house and will have Kid’s Night (No Haunt Thursdays) on October 24 & 31.
Hours: Friday & Saturday 7:30pm-Midnight (plus Thursday, October 24 & 31 from 7:30pm-Midnight)
Admission: $10 per person, $15 per person for both attractions, or $25 VIP Pass for both attractions

The Haunt at Easy Acre Farm is intended for teens and adults … this ain’t Old MacDonalds Farm!  Visit their Facebook page for SHARE the SCARE coupon for $2 off.  Hours: 8-11pm.  Admission: $10 per person.
Halloween Hoot at Easy Acre Farm is a family-friendly event for kids of all ages.  Activities include ghost hunt, crafts, the Monsanto Maze, barrel train ride, fun fall photos & Boo Barn!  Hours: 1-4pm.  Admission: $15 per family. Both events are rain or shine and cash only.

Enjoy this arts-based event in downtown Kokomo with businesses offering open houses with music, artists, and family activities.  Costumes are encouraged during the event on Nov. 1st. There will also be a Zombie Walk (cost is only $5.)

Indiana Bicentennial Train rolls into Kokomo Sept. 26-28

All Aboard!  The Indiana Bicentennial Train (originally known as the Indiana History Train) will be in Kokomo (the first of four stops this year) on September 26-28, 2013.  The train will be located in Downtown Kokomo at the corner of Superior and Buckeye Streets.  Visit Kokomo to experience this unique state-wide event first!

The public is invited to tour the train with its three 65-foot refurbished freight cars.  The Indiana Bicentennial Train’s on-board exhibition, The Next Indiana, will help visitors reflect on the past, present and future of the Hoosier State.  Before or after seeing this new exhibit, visit temporary “depots” filled with hands-on activities, games and presentations for all ages. Visit with a historic 1916 interpreter, vote for your favorite Hoosier invention, explore the Creativity Commons tent, and shop in the pop-up history market.

Admission is free!  The Indiana Bicentennial Train and accompanying activities will be open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Group reservations are available by calling (317) 232-1882 (space is limited.)  For more information, visit www.indianahistory.org/train/kokomo.

If your family is looking for a fun activity this fall, Guffey Acres provides a unique experience the entire family will enjoy!  Kids will love the corn maze, hay rides, barnyard barrel train, plus many other fun attractions such as giant checkers, tire mountain, tube slide, straw jump, cow ropin’, and corn cannon.  New in 2012, the corn popper is a gigantic pillow that kids can jump on!  Besides visiting the regular barnyard buddies in the Big Red Barn where kids can feed, pet and learn about the animals, pony rides are now available this year.

The farm’s featured attraction is the Farmtastic Corn Maze, with over 7 acres of paths and 3 different phases (from easy to more difficult.)  Also, don’t miss the Field of Screams Haunted Corn Maze — new in 2012!  In addition to the fun activities, you can purchase mums, pumpkins, unique gifts, and fall-themed toys & decor during your visit.  Plan a day of family fun this fall at Guffey Acres!
